For those members who don’t have a page yet, or it currently says incomplete here is suggestions for info you can give us to post. Not all is required but a lack of most can make it seem lacking compared to other profiles.

We also will be doing preprinted name tags for this event , nothing super fancy, but easily readable by others. Once the date gets closer we will post a form so you can tell us the info you want listed on it.

Fall Meet-Greet-Shoot October 17

Come one, call all to the greatest Meet & Greet on Earth (well that maybe a stretch, but definitely in Alabama).

Well as stated above we are gonna host our second BIG event this year in exactly two months (from this original posting). Even though our group has Birmingham in the name we have a number of members from all over the state (Fort Payne, Anniston, Tuscaloosa, etc) so please don’t think we only want local people. We had a great turnout at our last BIG event in June, I think we had finalized a number at around 75, but it sure seemed like more people.

Besides just coming to mingle and meet and network with your fellow photographers, models, mua, hair stylists, lighting people, etc, we chose a location (on purpose) that would provide some great shooting opportunities for those that wanted to do that (I suspect many will do so). On Morris Avenue there are a ton of various, interesting and unique shooting locations.

With this Meet and Greet, shooting is completely optional. We wanted to provide a venue in which shooting is possible, but we want everyone to know that they are NOT REQUIRED to shoot. Come out, mingle, talk and get to know the photographers, models, stylists, etc. in the area. The old adage about “its who you know” still applies, and just by being on MM, really doesn’t mean you know anybody. Making a good impression in person, that is memorable, can sure go a long way. It’s a NO-PRESSURE environment meant to encourage everyone to have fun while getting their work seen by more of the local community.

Since this isn’t an organized shoot, all details regarding with whom you shoot, releases, and terms of the shoot are to be handled BY YOU. Be sure that you discuss the terms with your collaborators, and that all details are understood and all parties have a copy of the release.

We will have a planning meeting on Sunday August 22, 2010 at 2:30pm. We will meet at the at Jim n Nicks 11th Ave Grill (1908 11th Avenue South Birmingham, AL 35205).

Besides other agenda items mentioned in the email to all the members we will discuss a possibly doing a photowalk (for the photographers and anybody else with a camera).

We are still working on adding info to the member pages, as well as creating pages for all of our members. Once completed we should have a photo of each member, a bio, links to their website(s), profiles on other platforms, blogs, contact info and some of their work. If you are a member and you don’t have a page its probably because you haven’t sent me the appropriate info. Compiling and then creating all the pages would take me to long, so you need to do your part. Also in return for us giving you that all that we ask is that you post a link to this website on your profile at any modeling related sites that you are a member of.

On a side note, anybody else sick of 100 degree weather?

Just a reminder to mark your calendars for Sunday October 17th, 2010 from 3-7pm for our Big Fall Event. It will again take place at Matthews Bar & Grill on Morris Avenue. Its your chance to meet and network in person with many, many others in this industry mostly from the immediate Birmingham area (although many come from a little farther away).

Member pages, website, etc

We are working to continually add to the website and make it more informative and accurate. Members please check your page info and make sure it is accurate. If you would like to write a simple or complex bio about yourself please email me the text and I will be glad to add it to yours (just make it something that you won’t want to regularly change ). I am still working on adding all of our members, I am behind. I also ask that you please add a link somewhere on your other profiles, at a minimum of yours at MM.

If anybody has ideas or suggestions for the website please let me know. I am also looking for a few members to regularly post relavent information that members and visitors would find beneficial. Please email me via the Birmingham Media Networking Group email address or post a comment below.
